2018 Canadian Mahjong Championships
To promote healthy mahjong and select finalists to participate in the 2nd WMMG, CANADA MAHJONG FEDERATION successfully hosted 2018 Canadian Mahjong Championships in Markham Ontario from May 19 to May 21, 2018. This event had got Canada's three levels of government strong support! The Prime Minister of Canada the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, the Premier of Ontarion Kathleen Wynne and the Mayor of Markham Frank Scarpitti sent a greeting letter to congratulate this the first national mahjong competition, respectively. MPP the Honourable Michael Chan joined the closing ceremony to present the trophies to the winners.
After two-day 7 sessions' MCR competition and one-day 6 sessions' SBR competition, Jie Zeng, Steve Xu and Tom Li won the Champion, runner up and the 3rd place of MCR, Xi Chen, Leo Cheng and Leo Chi Zhang got the Champion, runner up and the 3rd place of SBR. At the mean time, Tom Li and Leo Chi Zhang won MCR the highest single session match points by 500 and SBR the highest single session match points by 52 separately. MCR the highest single hand points went to Cater Hsu by 79 points.
